There are too many people in the business world who think it is their business to regulate the lives of their business associates. There is a verse in the Bible "how can you see the beam in your friend's eye, when you do not see the log in your own eye", or words to that effect. Unless the collegue's drinking is affecting his own work, then he should mind his own business. For sure, going to the boss about this is the wrong thing to do.
